An Australian where all children grow up free from poverty

About Us

The End Child Poverty campaign was launched in April 2024 by the Valuing Children Initiative.

Since then, the campaign has been joined by 165 organisations and companies across Australia with one vision, that Every child in Australia grows up free from poverty.

Together we will work for the Federal Parliament to enact legislation to end child poverty by 2030. The legislation would include measurable targets and actions to achieve this goal, acknowledging the inherent right of every child to live a life free from deprivation and hardship.

Our campaign is championed by our leadership committee:

About the Valuing Children Initiative

The Valuing Children Initiative works to ensure that all children in Australia experience a caring, safe, and supported childhood.
Established in 2016, the Valuing Children Initiative recognises the significant contribution that children and young people make to our society in the here and now. Children bind families and communities together. They bring laughter and love into our lives. They remind us of the importance of play, to be curious, to notice life’s small details, to be creative, spontaneous, and honest, to value relationships and to appreciate the natural world. Children are innovative and optimistic. Their endless energy and enthusiasm gives us hope for the future.

The Valuing Children Initiative is dedicated to changing societal attitudes so that all children and young people are valued and their needs are the first priority for every Australian. We stand up for children's rights, voices and their place in decision-making in the community as standard practice in community, government, business and the corporate sector.

We do this, through advocacy, research, workshops and training, campaigning and partnerships to effect meaningful change. We collaborate with stakeholders, policymakers, and like-minded organisations to create a collective positive impact on child well-being.

Despite the abundance of knowledge and resources, we continue to witness poor outcomes for children and young people due to this lack of prioritisation.

The Valuing Children Initiative advocates for all children on many issues.

VCI is a project of the not-for-profit organisation, Centrecare.
